Boarding Houses in Kogarah
The NSW Government's Affordable Rental Housing - State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) now allows for the development of boarding houses in residential areas, but only with the consent of Council.
There are strict mandatory standards that boarding house developments must comply with to ensure that they are compatible with surrounding development and that they are safe for occupants to live in.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of future occupants you must have Council approval to operate a boarding house.
Failure to gain an approval will result in fines being issued and the owners of illegal boarding houses being prosecuted.
The following Fact Sheets provide information on the development of boarding houses in the City of Kogarah.
For more information on the development of boarding houses, please contact Kogarah City Council on 9330 9400.
