Kogarah is an Aboriginal word for 'Place of Reeds'. The municipality of Kogarah was established in 1885 and is bounded by the Illawarra Railway line, Georges River, Rocky Point Road, Princes Hwy and Harrow Road.
At the forthcoming local government elections on 13 September 2008, Kogarah's community has the opportunity to be the first in NSW to decide the identity and name of their Council area.
Applies to residential development in the Kogarah LGA. Refer also to the Water Management Policy/Calculator which provides information about on-site water management and stormwater and applies to all developments requiring Council approval.
