Your rights to information
The Local Government Act 1993 promotes open government and greater accountability to the community and contains several provisions to ensure the public can access various information and influence what a Council does.
Members of the Public can access Council information under:
1. Access to Information - Section 12 of the Local Government Act 1993 [s12(6)]
2. The Freedom of Information Act 1989 (FOI), and
3. Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1999 (PPIPA).
Application Forms can be obtained from our Customer Service Centre located at 84 Railway Parade Kogarah between the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm. (Mon-Fri) and 8:30am to 12:00pm (Sat).
