Sister Cities

Kogarah has two Sister City relationships currently in place. One with our regional sister town Cowra and another with international Chinese sister city Ma'anshan.

The aim of the sister cities project is to encourage cultural, economic and educational interchange between communities and to encourage friendship, co-operation and understanding to improve peaceful coexistence worldwide.

Cowra

Cowra Shire is located in Central New South Wales, 310 kilometres drive due west of Sydney. The Shire area is 2,800 sq km and it is located between the Council areas of Blayney, Cabonne, Forbes, Weddin, Young and Boorowa Shires. Cowra Shire includes a number of small villages:  Billimari, Darbys Falls, Gooloogong, Morongla, Noonbinna, Wattamondara, Woodstock and Wyangala.

For more information on Cowra and our tourist attractions, click here to visit the Cowra Tourism Website. This site provides direct access to the Tourism NSW gateway for our region and surrounding areas. The site offers a wide range of information on events, accommodation, attractions and tours, as well as the ability to make online bookings.

Ma'anshan

Kogarah Council has established Sister City links with Ma'anshan, Anhui Province and People's Republic of China.  The links are intended to foster educational and cultural exchanges between the two local government areas.

Following the opening of the Kogarah Town Square Library & Cultural Centre, Ma'anshan Municipal Government has forwarded a number of books on China (and in particular the Ma'anshan area) for inclusion in Kogarah's collection.   Download Maanshan_library.pdf Ma'anshan Library (15KB)
