Aged Services

Older people are a major and diverse part of the Kogarah community, comprising a quarter of the Kogarah area total population.

The most significant feature of Kogarah's older population is that it is dominated by the very old. Kogarah has more than 4,000 residents over 75 years of age; this represents 8.1% of the total population. In comparison, Sydney's 75+ year olds represent just 5.6% of the population.

As our population becomes significantly older, we recognise the need for older members of the community to have a say in how the region is developed and how our services can better meet the needs of the aged.

Council is also aware of the increasing need for services for these members of our community, and as such endeavours to support the community organisations that provide these services.
