Waste, Recycling and Garden Waste Collection
Kogarah City Council provides each household (rateable property) a domestic waste service. The domestic waste service includes the use of a general refuse bin (red lid), recycle bin (yellow lid) and a green waste bin (green lid). The domestic bins are collected on a weekly or fortnightly rotation.
WSN Environmental Solutions
From Monday 23 November 2009, Kogarah City Council welcomes a new waste and recycling collection contractor WSN Environmental Solutions to the Local Government Area.
Between Monday 23 November 2009 and Friday 29 May 2010 WSN Environmental Solutions will be collecting the garbage services on the same days as the previous contractors Cleanaway. The Council expect minimal disruptions for residents during these first few months of the new contract.
From Monday 31 May 2010, the new "St George Region of Councils Contract" will be implemented. This change will signify new collection days for some of Kogarah City Council residents. Council will use a variety of publicity and notification techniques in 2010 to ensure all residents are notified of any change to their collection services.

Kogarah residents have a new Waste Hotline Number 1800 079 390 to call for:
- Missed bin collections
- Bin repairs
- Clean up collection dates
- Stolen bins
- At-call waste collection (free quotes)

Bi-annual kerb side collection
Domestic households receive two bi-annual kerb side collections for larger household items such as whitegoods, household furniture and other household goods. Kogarah City Council notifies residents of their bi-annual collection by letterbox drop in the weeks leading up to the starting dates. An at-call waste removal service is also offered, call the Waste Hotline (toll free) on 1800 648 578 to arrange a free quote for the at-call option.
