Kogarah Fair & Charity Bed Race Bed Race 2009

With the streets full of fairies, Spartan warriors, wizards and retro aerobics fanatics, it was truly 'bedlam' in Kogarah on Saturday 29 August for the 18th annual Kogarah Fair and Charity Bed Race.

Thousands of locals cheered on 34 competitors dressed in crazy costumes as they pushed decorated beds down Railway Parade, all in the name of charity.

Co-hosted by Kogarah City Council and the Lamrock Committee, the event is a major fundraiser for the purchase of medical equipment for St George Hospital.

A bed parade and marching band kicked off the event at 10am, followed by the Bed Race heats at 11am and all the fun of the fair, with food and craft stalls, entertainment, children's rides and roving entertainers.Bed Race 2009

Congratulations to the UNSW Athletics Association runners who won the Bed Race, closely followed by Live Well Health & Fitness Studio. The 'Scarey Potter' runners from 4 South Medical Specialities and the team from Narani Child Care Centre took away the coveted 'Best Decorated Bed' award.
